Gemma Bayley
- Locality: North Chichester
I’m Gemma, Practice Manager at The Petworth Surgery. I began my career in General Practice at the tender age of 17. I did take a break from the NHS to open my own Vegan and Vegetarian Bakehouse but have come back to my roots!
Outside of work I have two stepdaughters, who keep me busy, and I care for my autistic older brother. I love spending time with family and friends, and my passions are sport and baking. I am a keen marathon runner and currently have 78 to my name including quite a few “ultra” events. I am always on the go and rarely relax but feel very happy and content with life and try to see the good every single day.
I have been part of the WSPMA Committee for some years now and was delighted when they asked if I would like to be their Wellbeing Lead. I trained to be a Mental Health First Aider, which not only helps me in my day job, but also outside of work too. Following this, I then undertook the training to become an instructor of the course, having qualified in December 2025, I am delighted to be teaching others the skills to become Mental Health First Aiders. I have my own experience of mental health difficulties and feel very honoured to have been given this opportunity through the WSPMA.
I am also Locality Lead for the Rural North Chichester area to share WSPMA information.
